The Kimi guide

Meet Kimi.
Find the right service.

Explore Moonshot AI’s assistant and understand how its consumer product differs from developer API access.

One ecosystem, different ways to use it.

Use the assistant

The official Kimi website provides the product interface. Check its help center and the options shown in your account for the tools, membership benefits and usage limits currently available.

Build with the API

The developer platform provides model access for your own application. API requests have their own credentials, limits and usage charges. Choose the documentation for the service and region you are using.

Check what a plan actually covers.

Kimi’s help center explains that product memberships and API usage use separate billing systems. Before paying, identify whether the offer is for the assistant, a developer product or API credit. A consumer membership should not be assumed to include general API usage.

For a particular feature, check the current official help page and your account’s availability. Tools in the assistant are not automatically included when you call a model through an API.

A practical starting checklist

  • For everyday use, start with the official assistant and its help center.
  • For software development, choose the correct API platform and review its model list and pricing.
  • For a membership or account issue, use Kimi’s official support resources.
  • When comparing results, record the exact model, interface, tools and date.
