Kimi AI Download: Official Apps for Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone

Last reviewed: October 13, 2026

Use Moonshot AI’s official Kimi download page to get Kimi for Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, iPad or HarmonyOS. The page provides separate desktop downloads for Windows, Apple silicon Macs and Intel Macs, while the mobile buttons direct you to the appropriate official distribution route.

You can also use Kimi in a web browser without installing anything. This is the simplest option for Linux users, many Chromebook users, shared computers and anyone who wants to try Kimi before downloading the app.

Download safety: Do not download a Kimi APK, EXE, DMG or ZIP file from an unrelated software portal or file mirror. Start from Kimi’s official download page or a verified Apple or Google app-store listing.

Moonshot AI currently uses both kimi.com and kimi.ai in official product and regional account flows. When in doubt, begin from the official Moonshot AI website or the Kimi download page rather than following an advertisement or an unfamiliar Kimi-branded domain.

How to download Kimi AI on Windows

  1. Open the official Kimi download page.
  2. Find the desktop section and select Windows.
  3. Save the installer to your computer.
  4. Confirm that the download came from the official Kimi page before opening it.
  5. Run the installer and follow the instructions displayed by Windows.
  6. Launch Kimi and sign in with your Kimi account when prompted.
  7. Choose Chat for regular conversations or Work for supported desktop-agent tasks.

Moonshot’s current Kimi Work documentation lists Windows 10 or later as the system requirement for Work mode. The public download page does not list separate minimum RAM, storage or CPU specifications, so avoid relying on requirements copied from unofficial download sites.

Kimi Work is currently described as a beta product. It can work with selected local folders, use browser tools and create files on your computer. This makes its permissions more consequential than those of a basic chat window.

What to do if Windows warns about the installer

Do not turn off Microsoft Defender, SmartScreen or another security control simply to force the installation. A warning does not automatically prove that a file is malicious, but it should prompt you to verify the download.

  • Delete the questionable copy and download it again from the official Kimi page.
  • Check that your browser did not redirect you to an unrelated domain.
  • Inspect the file’s Properties and available digital-signature information.
  • Stop if the file identity, origin or signature is unexpected.
  • On a managed work or school computer, ask the administrator before installing the app.

Microsoft explains that Defender SmartScreen evaluates sites and downloaded files and may warn about suspicious or unfamiliar downloads. Keep that protection enabled while resolving the warning.

How to download Kimi AI on Mac

The official Kimi page provides two Mac downloads. Choose the version that matches your processor:

  • Apple silicon: Macs using an Apple M-series chip.
  • Intel: Older Macs using an Intel processor.

Check whether your Mac has Apple silicon or Intel

  1. Open the Apple menu in the upper-left corner.
  2. Select About This Mac.
  3. If the window shows an item named Chip followed by an M-series name, choose the Apple silicon download.
  4. If it shows Processor followed by an Intel processor name, choose the Intel download.

Apple provides the same distinction in its guide to identifying Macs with Apple silicon.

Install Kimi on macOS

  1. Visit the official Kimi download page.
  2. Select either macOS (Apple silicon) or macOS (Intel).
  3. Open the downloaded disk image or installer package.
  4. Follow the onscreen installation instructions.
  5. Open Kimi and complete sign-in if requested.

Kimi Work requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 12 or later. Intel Mac users can install the official desktop application, but the current download page says that the Intel version supports Kimi Chat only. It does not provide Kimi Work.

The public Kimi download page does not specify a separate minimum macOS version for the Intel Chat-only build. Install the matching official build and rely on the installer’s compatibility check rather than assuming that Kimi Work’s Apple-silicon requirements apply unchanged to Intel Macs.

What to do if macOS blocks Kimi

macOS uses Gatekeeper to check applications downloaded outside the App Store. If you see a warning, confirm that the app came directly from Kimi’s official page and has not been altered. Do not globally disable Gatekeeper or remove security attributes with an unverified Terminal command.

Follow Apple’s current guidance for safely opening apps on a Mac. If macOS says the application is damaged or will harm your computer, delete that copy rather than overriding the warning.

How to download Kimi AI on Android

  1. Open the official Kimi listing on Google Play.
  2. Confirm that the app is named Kimi.
  3. Confirm that the developer is Moonshot AI.
  4. Check that the listing URL contains the package ID com.moonshot.kimichat.
  5. Select Install.
  6. Open the app and sign in when required.

The current Google Play listing shows Kimi for phones, tablets and Chromebooks, although actual compatibility can depend on the device, operating-system version, region and account. Google Play will indicate whether your specific device is supported.

Is there an official Kimi APK?

The current English download route points Android users to the official mobile distribution channel and does not document a separate public APK that users should obtain from a third-party mirror. Avoid websites offering a “modified,” “premium unlocked” or repackaged Kimi APK.

If Kimi is unavailable in your regional Google Play store, use the official web version or return to Kimi’s official download page to check for an authorized regional option. Changing regions or sideloading an unknown APK should not be the default solution.

How to download Kimi AI on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the official Kimi App Store listing.
  2. Confirm that the developer is Moonshot AI.
  3. Verify that the App Store URL uses the ID 6474233312.
  4. Tap Get and complete Apple’s installation process.
  5. Open Kimi and sign in if requested.

The listing title may include a current product or model announcement, so the icon and title alone are not enough to verify the app. The developer and numeric App Store ID are more useful identity checks.

The current US listing supports iPhone and iPad and requires iOS 15.0 or later or iPadOS 15.0 or later. It is free to install and includes in-app purchases.

How to get Kimi on HarmonyOS

Kimi’s official download page currently lists HarmonyOS alongside iOS and Android. Because mobile distribution routes can vary by device and region, begin with the HarmonyOS option on the official Kimi page rather than searching for an installation package on an unrelated download site.

If the HarmonyOS button does not provide a compatible route for your device or region, use Kimi in the browser instead of installing an unverified package.

Can you use Kimi AI without downloading it?

Yes. Open the official Kimi web app in a supported modern browser. The web version is the most direct option when:

  • You want to try Kimi before installing an application.
  • You use Linux and do not need Kimi Code.
  • Your Chromebook cannot install the Android application.
  • You are using a shared or managed computer.
  • Your device does not meet Kimi Work’s requirements.
  • The mobile application is unavailable in your regional store.

A browser shortcut is not the same as a native desktop application. The web version provides the main Kimi experience, while Kimi Work adds desktop-agent functions such as working with selected local folders.

Kimi Chat, Kimi Work and Kimi Code are different downloads

ProductWho it is forWhere it runs
Kimi ChatGeneral conversations, research, writing, file questions and everyday AI tasksWeb, mobile and desktop
Kimi WorkKnowledge workers who want an agent to work with selected local folders, browser tasks and desktop workflowsWindows and Apple silicon Macs
Kimi CodeDevelopers who want an AI coding agent in a terminal or IDESupported terminals and IDEs on macOS, Linux and Windows
Kimi Browser ExtensionUsers or agents that need browser-side assistance and web automationSupported Chrome or Edge installations on macOS or Windows

If you only want the regular Kimi chatbot, download the standard Kimi app or use the website. You do not need Kimi Code, a terminal command or downloadable model weights.

Kimi Work

Kimi Work is available through Work mode in the Kimi desktop client. Moonshot describes it as a general-purpose local agent for knowledge workers. It can break down tasks, use browser tools and work with local folders you choose to connect.

For a first desktop workflow, see our Kimi Work setup guide.

Connecting a local folder allows Kimi Work to read files and create files within the selected workspace. It does not, by itself, prove that every part of model processing occurs entirely on your device. Review the current privacy terms and your organization’s rules before using confidential files.

Kimi Work provides multiple permission levels, including a manual-approval option. Starting with manual approval and connecting only the folders required for the task gives you more control over file changes and code execution.

Kimi Code

Kimi Code is a separate developer product for coding tasks in terminals and supported IDEs. Its installation methods, plan requirements and permissions differ from the standard consumer application.

Follow our Kimi Code installation guide for the separate developer product.

Use the current Kimi Code installation documentation rather than copying an old shell command from a third-party article. Kimi Code supports Linux, but that does not mean Moonshot offers a native general Kimi desktop client for Linux.

Kimi model weights

Downloading a Kimi model is different from installing the Kimi app. Model weights are intended for developers and organizations that have the infrastructure and software needed to run them. Official Moonshot model releases can be checked through the Moonshot AI organization on Hugging Face and the official Moonshot AI GitHub organization.

Do not download a model repository when your goal is simply to chat with Kimi on a phone or computer.

Do Kimi chats sync across devices?

The official download page says that conversations in Chat mode sync across the web, desktop and mobile when you use the same Kimi account. You can begin a chat on one device and continue it on another.

Work-mode conversations are different. They remain on the desktop where they were created. Tasks that depend on local files must also continue on a computer that can access those files.

If a conversation does not appear on another device, first confirm that:

  • You signed in with the same Kimi account.
  • The missing conversation was created in Chat mode rather than Work mode.
  • Both devices are connected to the internet.
  • You are not using a third-party app that stores conversations separately.

Is Kimi AI free to download?

The official mobile listings allow users to install Kimi without paying an upfront app price. They also disclose in-app purchases. This means free to download should not be interpreted as every model, feature and usage level is unlimited and free.

Depending on the product and account, paid plans or usage allowances may apply to advanced models, Kimi Work, Kimi Code or other agent features. Plan names, limits and regional prices can change, so review the current options inside the official Kimi account rather than relying on a static price copied from an older download guide.

How to verify that a Kimi download is official

  • Begin with an official page. Use the Kimi download page, Moonshot AI’s website, Google Play or Apple’s App Store.
  • Check the Android identity. The official Google Play listing shows Moonshot AI and the package ID com.moonshot.kimichat.
  • Check the Apple identity. The official listing shows Moonshot AI and App Store ID 6474233312.
  • Do not rely on the logo. Icons, screenshots and product descriptions can be copied by unrelated applications.
  • Avoid download mirrors. Do not install repackaged APK, EXE, DMG or ZIP files from software portals or file-sharing services.
  • Do not disable device protection. Investigate a security warning instead of switching off SmartScreen, Gatekeeper or antivirus protection.
  • Review permissions. Grant file, browser, microphone, photo or notification access only when the feature you intend to use requires it.
  • Limit folder access. In Kimi Work, connect only the folders needed for the current task.
  • Keep the app updated. Use the official app store, the app’s verified update mechanism or the official download page.
  • Protect your account. Do not enter your password or verification code on a third-party download page.

Common Kimi download and installation problems

The desktop download button is missing

Go directly to the official download hub rather than relying on the homepage layout. Product menus and homepage buttons can change without removing the dedicated download page.

Kimi is unavailable in the mobile app store

Store availability can vary by country, account and device. Check the official Kimi download page for another authorized route. When no official installation option is available, use the web app instead of downloading an APK or installation profile from an unknown source.

The Mac installer does not work

Confirm that you selected the correct architecture. Apple silicon and Intel installers are not interchangeable. Apple silicon users should also confirm that macOS meets the current Kimi Work requirement.

Kimi Work is missing on an Intel Mac

This is an expected product limitation, not necessarily an installation error. The official download page says that the Intel desktop version supports Kimi Chat only. Use an Apple silicon Mac or a supported Windows PC for Kimi Work.

The installer is blocked by the operating system

Verify the source and download the file again from Kimi’s official page. Do not repeatedly override a warning for a file whose identity cannot be confirmed. On a managed computer, the installation may require approval from the organization’s administrator.

The app installed, but sign-in or syncing does not work

Check the network connection, confirm that every device uses the same account and remember that Work-mode conversations do not sync like Chat conversations. If the problem continues, use the feedback option inside Kimi or follow the current official support guidance.

If sign-in or syncing still fails, use our Kimi troubleshooting guide before clearing data or reinstalling.

The bottom line

The safest Kimi AI download route is Moonshot AI’s official Kimi download page. It provides the Windows app, separate Apple silicon and Intel Mac builds, and verified mobile routes for iOS, Android and HarmonyOS.

Choose the installer carefully. Windows 10 or later is required for Kimi Work, Apple silicon Macs need macOS 12 or later for Work mode, and Intel Macs receive Kimi Chat without Kimi Work. Android users should verify the package ID com.moonshot.kimichat, while iPhone and iPad users should verify Moonshot AI and App Store ID 6474233312.

When a native application is unavailable or unnecessary, use the official web version. Avoid unofficial APK files, repackaged desktop installers and lookalike applications, even when they use the Kimi name or logo.
