QwenWork is Alibaba’s official AI work platform for creating documents, presentations, spreadsheets, websites, images, audio, video, and other deliverables through natural-language instructions. Unlike a basic chatbot that mainly returns text, QwenWork can plan multi-step tasks, work with files, use reusable Skills and authorized Connectors, and return outputs that you can review, refine, download, publish, or schedule.
The official international product is available at QwenWork.ai, with direct web access through the official sign-in page. The official download route currently offers desktop applications for macOS and Windows. Avoid similarly named download sites, browser extensions, or third-party tools unless they are linked from QwenWork’s own website or documentation.
Alibaba launched the international edition on August 26, 2026, describing it at the time as a public beta. As of October 13, 2026, the platform offers live sign-in, public pricing, paid subscriptions, documentation, and desktop downloads. However, the first-party sources checked for this guide did not contain a later announcement formally ending the beta designation, so features, model labels, limits, and interface details may continue to change.

What is QwenWork?
QwenWork is designed to turn a work goal into a completed deliverable rather than limiting the interaction to a single question and answer. You describe the desired outcome, provide relevant files or context, and the Agent determines the steps and tools needed to complete the task.
A typical QwenWork workflow has six parts:
- You define the outcome. For example, you might request a ten-slide client presentation, a spreadsheet analysis, a research report, or a small website.
- You provide context. This may include instructions, uploaded files, source material, design requirements, or an authorized external service.
- The Agent plans the task. It breaks the request into steps and selects available capabilities, models, Skills, or Connectors.
- You monitor progress. QwenWork can display execution events, intermediate results, and requests for a decision or approval.
- You review the deliverable. The result may be a document, presentation, spreadsheet, webpage, image, media file, code package, or another output.
- You refine or reuse it. You can request revisions, download the output, publish a Page, or turn an appropriate workflow into a scheduled task.
This distinction matters. QwenWork is not simply another name for Qwen Chat, and it is not an individual Qwen language model. It is a product layer that combines models, task planning, file handling, workspaces, automation capabilities, and output tools.
What can QwenWork do?
The platform covers several types of knowledge and creative work. Availability can vary by web or desktop surface, plan, workspace, region, and product update, so the following capabilities should not be interpreted as identical on every account.
| Capability | Practical use |
|---|---|
| Documents and reports | Turn notes, files, or research requirements into proposals, reports, summaries, emails, and structured business documents |
| Presentations | Create a slide deck from a brief, source documents, audience requirements, and an requested visual structure |
| Spreadsheets and data | Analyze uploaded data, organize tables, identify patterns, and create summaries or spreadsheet-based deliverables |
| Research | Collect and organize information into a reviewable report, while allowing the user to inspect sources and conclusions |
| Websites and Pages | Generate, preview, revise, and publish a website or web-based deliverable through the web platform |
| Images, audio, and video | Create or process multimedia assets when the relevant capability is available to the account |
| Local file work | Use the desktop application to read, organize, convert, or update files on the computer after the necessary permission is granted |
| Browser and computer operation | Use the desktop application to interact with supported pages or applications through screenshots, mouse actions, and keyboard input |
| Repeatable workflows | Install Skills that define reusable methods, formats, or professional workflows |
| External services | Authorize Connectors so the Agent can work with permitted information or actions from another service |
| Scheduled work | Run recurring research, reporting, monitoring, or notification tasks on an appropriate schedule |
QwenWork’s value is most visible when a task requires several connected steps. For example, it may gather information, analyze supplied files, draft a report, generate a presentation, and package the deliverables within one Agent session. The output still requires human review, especially when it contains facts, calculations, legal or financial information, external actions, or content intended for publication.
QwenWork web versus desktop
The web and desktop versions are not interchangeable. Choosing the correct one depends on whether the task needs cloud execution, website creation, local files, browser control, or access to applications on your computer.
| Area | QwenWork web | QwenWork desktop |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | No installation; runs in a supported browser | Requires the official macOS or Windows application |
| Best suited for | Cloud-based work, uploaded files, websites, Pages, and tasks that should continue without the browser remaining open | Local files, browser automation, voice input, and desktop workflows; Computer Control is currently documented for macOS 14 or later |
| Local file access | Works with files uploaded to the platform | Can work with local files after permission is granted |
| Website creation | Current documentation places full-stack website and Page creation on the web platform | The FAQ describes this as a web capability, with desktop support not yet equivalent |
| Browser automation | Not presented as the main web capability | Supported through the desktop environment and related permissions |
| Computer control | No direct control of local desktop applications | Computer Control is documented for macOS 14 or later with Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions; the Windows installer alone does not establish support for this feature |
| Scheduled tasks | Run in the cloud and can continue after the browser is closed or the user signs out | May require the computer and application to remain awake and available |
| Personalization | Workspace and account context | May also use the opt-in Awareness and Auto Memory features described in the desktop documentation |
| Synchronization | Web work is cloud-based | Web and desktop sessions and scheduled tasks should be treated as separate; current FAQ documentation says they do not automatically synchronize |
The current official international download page offers macOS and Windows installers. As of October 13, 2026, it did not list a standalone QwenWork application for iOS or Android. This should not be confused with the separate general Qwen mobile app.
Current desktop requirements
- macOS: macOS 14 or later, with separate downloads for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The installation documentation recommends approximately 700 MB of available space for the application and generated outputs.
- Windows: 64-bit Windows 10 or later on an x86-64 system, with approximately 500 MB of available storage and a stable internet connection.
- Downloads: use the installers linked from the official QwenWork site or the official quick-start documentation, not an unofficial mirror.
How to sign up and complete your first QwenWork task
- Open the official service. Visit qwenwork.ai and select the web access or official desktop download.
- Sign in with a supported method. The current international documentation describes Google and email sign-in. New users may also be asked to connect an Alibaba Cloud account.
- Confirm your profile information. Complete the requested display name and country or region information using accurate details.
- Select the correct workspace. Use the personal workspace for individual work or an organization workspace when you have been invited by a team. Sessions, files, members, permissions, and usage belong to the active workspace.
- Start a new Agent task. State the outcome you want rather than giving only a vague topic.
- Add safe source material. Attach relevant files only after checking that they do not contain unnecessary credentials, private customer data, payment details, or trade secrets.
- Choose a model or capability when needed. A basic model may be sufficient for a simple transformation, while a more capable option may be useful for complex research or long-form deliverables.
- Review the Agent’s plan and progress. Watch for assumptions, missing requirements, permission requests, and actions that need approval.
- Inspect the final output. Check facts, calculations, citations, formatting, links, formulas, file structure, and any action that affects an external system.
- Refine, download, or publish. Request corrections before using the deliverable. Publish a Page or schedule a workflow only after verifying the final result and expected credit use.
A copyable first-task prompt
This example asks QwenWork to turn source material into a presentation without inventing unsupported facts:
Create a 10-slide executive presentation for [audience] about [topic]. Use only the attached source files and any official sources that you can verify. Required structure: 1. Executive summary 2. Current situation 3. Three most important findings 4. Supporting evidence 5. Risks and limitations 6. Recommended next steps 7. Source list Requirements: - Do not invent statistics, quotes, prices, dates, or customer claims. - Mark any conclusion that is an inference. - Keep each slide focused on one idea. - Use a clear professional visual hierarchy. - Add brief speaker notes. - Produce both the editable presentation and a one-page summary. Before finalizing, show me the proposed slide outline and ask for approval.
The approval step is important because it lets you correct the structure before credits and time are spent producing the complete deliverable.
QwenWork pricing and credits
The following individual prices were displayed on the official QwenWork pricing page on October 13, 2026. Prices, taxes, bonuses, plan names, and regional availability can change, so verify the checkout page before subscribing.
| Plan | Price | Included monthly credits | Selected published benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | US$0 | No recurring monthly credit allocation was displayed in the same way as the paid plans; limited-time signup and daily-login bonus credits were advertised | 1 GB storage, up to 5 Pages, and up to 10 parallel tasks |
| Plus | US$20 monthly, or US$16 per month billed annually at US$192 per year | 2,000 | 10 GB storage, up to 10 Pages, Page password protection and database features, unlimited parallel tasks, and access to add-on credit packs |
| Pro | US$40 monthly, or US$32 per month billed annually at US$384 per year | 4,500 | 20 GB storage, up to 50 Pages, and the published Plus benefits |
The Free plan also displayed a 500-credit signup bonus and a 200-credit daily-login bonus, both marked as limited-time benefits. Do not assume those bonuses will remain available permanently.
Some official subscription documentation still uses the names Personal Standard and Personal Pro for paid individual plans, while the public purchase-facing page uses Plus and Pro. The displayed prices and credit allocations correspond, but the current checkout page should be treated as the final authority rather than combining benefits from differently labeled pages.
How QwenWork credits work
- Credits are consumed according to the task, model, and capabilities used.
- A complex Agent task does not necessarily cost the same as a short text transformation.
- More capable models may consume credits differently from basic models.
- Scheduled tasks can consume credits on every run, so test the workflow once before creating a frequent recurrence.
- Do not estimate the number of presentations, videos, reports, or prompts from the credit total alone unless the interface provides a current estimate for that exact task.
- Paid personal plans can purchase additional credit packs. Current documentation lists 1,500 credits for US$15, 5,000 for US$50, and 10,000 for US$100, equivalent to US$1 per 100 credits at the published rate.
- Personal and organization credits are separate. A balance in a personal workspace should not be assumed to transfer to an organization workspace.
QwenWork’s current plan-management documentation states that an upgrade takes effect immediately while retaining the original subscription expiration date. Direct downgrades are not currently supported; the documented route is to cancel renewal, retain benefits until the paid period ends, and then select a lower plan. Cancellation stops future renewal rather than immediately removing paid benefits.
Organization pricing
The public pricing page lists Enterprise Standard at US$30 per seat per month, or US$360 per seat per year, with 2,000 monthly credits per seat, 100 GB of organization storage, administration controls, organization Skills and Connectors, and a shared credit pool. Enterprise Premium uses custom pricing and adds options such as a dedicated virtual private cloud environment.
Official enterprise documentation says seat credits expire monthly and do not roll over, while separately purchased organization credit packs are valid for one year. Organizations should verify seat counts, renewal rules, data controls, and deployment requirements with the current purchase agreement before committing.
QwenWork models and model selection
Model availability can change and may differ between web, desktop, plan, and account. The current documentation uses capability tiers rather than requiring every user to choose a technical model identifier.
- Basic: intended for everyday tasks such as simple organization, formatting, conversion, straightforward writing, and information lookup.
- Advanced: intended for more complex analysis, research, planning, professional writing, and multi-step deliverables.
- Qwen3.8-Max: listed in the current desktop model-selection documentation as the strongest Qwen reasoning option for complex and long-form tasks.
The desktop documentation says users can switch models during a task without losing the existing session context. It also warns that models consume credits differently. Because the model list is updated over time, check the selector visible in your own workspace rather than relying on an old screenshot or launch announcement.
Skills, Connectors, and scheduled tasks
Skills
A QwenWork Skill is a reusable capability or workflow that defines how a particular type of task should be completed. A Skill may specify a professional method, sequence of steps, output structure, or quality expectation.
Skills are installed into the active personal or organization workspace. Once installed, they can be enabled for a session, and the Agent may use a relevant enabled Skill when it matches the task. Review what a Skill does before enabling it, avoid installing several conflicting Skills for the same job, and remember that workspace administrators may control organization-level availability.
Connectors
A Connector links QwenWork to an external service. Installation and authorization are separate: adding a Connector does not automatically grant access to an account. The user must complete the external service’s authorization flow and approve the requested permissions.
- Review the exact account being connected.
- Grant only the access required for the intended workflow.
- Enable the Connector only in sessions that need it.
- Inspect actions before the Agent changes, sends, publishes, or deletes anything.
- Disconnect the account when the integration is no longer required.
- Check the external service’s own privacy policy because data sent to that service is governed by its terms as well as QwenWork’s.
Scheduled tasks
Scheduled tasks can automate recurring work such as a weekly competitor briefing, a daily research digest, or a monthly report. The web documentation supports one-time and recurring schedules, including interval, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and custom patterns.
Web schedules run in the cloud and can continue after the browser is closed or the user signs out. Desktop schedules may depend on the application and computer remaining awake. Current documentation also says web and desktop scheduled tasks are independent and do not synchronize automatically.
Each scheduled run can create a separate session and consume credits. Run the workflow manually first, inspect its output and credit use, then choose a recurrence that will not create unnecessary cost or repeated low-quality results.
QwenWork Pages and website creation
QwenWork Pages allows users to create and publish web-based deliverables through a conversation. The Agent can generate a website, provide a preview, apply requested revisions, and publish it to a QwenWork-hosted address.
- Published sites can use a default
qwenwork.hostsubdomain. - Dynamic sites can use a QwenWork-managed database.
- Versions allow the user to review and restore earlier states.
- Custom domains and password protection may depend on the subscription and current Page configuration.
- Deleting a website that has an attached database can permanently remove that database, so export important information before deletion.
Generated websites require the same review as human-written sites. Check links, forms, accessibility, mobile layout, security-sensitive code, database behavior, legal text, tracking scripts, factual claims, and publication permissions before sending users to the site.
Privacy, local files, and computer-control permissions
QwenWork can process more than a normal chat message. Depending on the feature used, the service may handle prompts, uploaded files, generated outputs, workspace assets, browser content, Connector data, usage information, administrative settings, local-file instructions, and personalization information.
The international QwenWork Privacy Policy states that service data is stored on secure servers in Singapore and may be transferred internationally as described in the policy. The policy also describes encryption, access controls, audit mechanisms, and other safeguards. These are first-party statements, not a guarantee that every workflow is risk-free.
Do local files stay on the computer?
The answer depends on how the file is used. The full policy states that original files handled through local file operations are processed on the device and are not uploaded to QwenWork cloud storage for those operations. However, task instructions and metadata necessary for model inference may still be transmitted in encrypted form.
This does not mean that every QwenWork file stays local. Files deliberately uploaded to a workspace, information sent through a Connector, browser content used during automation, and material included in a cloud-based task may be processed differently. Review the active feature and policy rather than relying on a blanket “local-only” assumption.
Computer control requires broad permissions
The official Computer Control guide currently documents this capability for macOS 14 or later, with Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions. On that documented route, screenshots, mouse actions, and keyboard input let the Agent see and operate supported applications under your account. QwenWork also has a Windows application, but its installer’s availability does not establish Windows support for this separate feature. Check feature-specific documentation before relying on it.
Platform-scope clarification checked October 16, 2026. This distinguishes the documented requirements of Computer Control from the separate availability of macOS and Windows desktop installers; it is not a claim that every desktop feature has identical platform support.
The current computer-control documentation uses Ask Every Time as the default confirmation behavior. Keep confirmation enabled for sensitive workflows, avoid automatic execution when working with email, payments, publishing, production systems, or account settings, and disable the permission when it is no longer needed.
A practical privacy and permission checklist
- Begin with non-sensitive sample data.
- Remove passwords, API keys, authentication tokens, payment information, identity documents, and unnecessary personal data.
- Do not upload confidential source code, trade secrets, or unsanitized customer records without organizational approval and an appropriate agreement.
- Review the active workspace before uploading a file; organization administrators may manage members, usage, permissions, and Connectors.
- Read every Connector authorization screen and grant the minimum required scope.
- Keep human confirmation enabled before sending, publishing, deleting, purchasing, or changing an external account.
- Review all factual statements, calculations, links, formulas, and generated code.
- Disconnect unused integrations and remove permissions that are no longer required.
- Follow your organization’s information-security, data-retention, and legal requirements.
Important QwenWork limitations
- AI output can be wrong. Official documentation warns that generated results may be inaccurate or incomplete. Human review remains necessary.
- Web and desktop do not have feature parity. Local files and browser automation are desktop-oriented; Computer Control is currently documented for macOS 14 or later. Current full-stack Page creation is a web capability.
- Sessions and schedules may not synchronize across surfaces. Do not assume that a web task will appear in the desktop scheduler or continue under the same local context.
- Credit use is task-dependent. The plan total does not reveal exactly how many complex reports, websites, presentations, or media tasks it will support.
- The product is changing quickly. Models, labels, plan names, bonuses, platform support, and limits may change after publication.
- Official pages currently use inconsistent personal-plan terminology. The public pricing page says Plus and Pro, while some documentation says Personal Standard and Personal Pro.
- Automation increases operational risk. Browser or computer control can act under the signed-in user’s identity, making confirmation and permission management essential.
- Third-party services have separate terms. A Connector can transfer information to another provider whose privacy, retention, and security practices differ from QwenWork’s.
- No official international mobile download was verified. The official route currently emphasizes web, macOS, and Windows access.
- Published or database-backed outputs need lifecycle planning. Deleting a Page or its database can be irreversible.
QwenWork versus Qwen Chat, Qwen Code, and Qwen models
| Product | Primary purpose | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|
| QwenWork | Agent-based work platform that plans tasks and produces deliverables | Documents, presentations, spreadsheets, websites, file workflows, automation, scheduled work, and team workspaces |
| Qwen Chat | General conversational AI assistant | Questions, writing, analysis, everyday assistance, and individual chat-based tasks |
| Qwen Code | Coding-oriented agent and development workflow | Software development, repositories, terminal or coding tasks, and developer tooling |
| Qwen model family | Underlying AI models | Developers, researchers, APIs, local runtimes, and products that integrate a Qwen model |
QwenWork should also not be described as open source merely because some Qwen models or code-related projects are openly available. QwenWork is delivered as a hosted and desktop service under its own Terms, pricing, permissions, and product policies.
Who should use QwenWork?
| Likely a good fit | May be a weaker fit |
|---|---|
| Knowledge workers who regularly produce reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other structured deliverables | Users who need only a simple question-and-answer chatbot |
| Researchers and analysts who want one workflow for source material, analysis, drafting, and output creation | Organizations that cannot authorize cloud processing or external Connectors |
| Marketing, operations, and project teams that repeat similar workflows | Users who require every feature to work identically on web, desktop, and mobile |
| Users who need local-file operations or supervised browser and desktop automation | Developers whose main need is a terminal-focused coding agent rather than office deliverables |
| Teams that need organization workspaces, shared credit management, Skills, and administrative controls | High-risk workflows that cannot tolerate AI errors or require unattended irreversible actions |
| Non-developers who want to create a small website or published Page from natural-language instructions | Users who cannot regularly review credit usage, permissions, outputs, and changing product limits |
The Free plan provides the safest way to assess whether the workflow fits your needs. Test one representative task using non-sensitive information, inspect the output quality and visible credit consumption, and compare the web and desktop surfaces before purchasing a subscription or connecting a business account.
Is QwenWork worth trying?
QwenWork is worth testing when your work involves producing complete deliverables rather than receiving isolated chat answers. Its strongest differentiators are the combination of Agent sessions, files, web publishing, reusable Skills, external Connectors, scheduled tasks, and desktop-level file or application interaction.
A paid plan makes more sense when you have a repeatable workflow and can estimate its real credit use. It is less compelling when you need only occasional text assistance, require a mature mobile application, cannot authorize the necessary data access, or need unattended automation without human review.
Use the Free plan to test a real but non-sensitive task. Before upgrading, confirm that the needed feature exists on the intended platform, review the current plan name and checkout price, measure one complete workflow, and decide whether the result saves enough manual work to justify the subscription and permission requirements.
